The new Packaging Law (VerpackG) will come into effect on January 1st 2019, replacing the current Packaging Ordinance. All producers and online retailers, who bring packaged products onto the German market and which end as waste with private end-users, subject the Packaging Law.
From 2019 packaged goods can only be brought to the German market if they’re registered at the national authority (Zentrale Stelle) and if a participation in one or more dual systems is existent.
