Protecting the planet, mindful use of resources, and sustainability have long been core pillars of DEBATIN’s corporate philosophy. The company and its product range are both carbon-neutral. In this spirit, Anton Debatin GmbH has made a conscious decision to keep developing its sustainable product range: the DEBAPOST® Second life plastic wallets, made of more than 80 % recycled material, qualify for the Blue Angel eco-label, while the new DEBAPOST® Second life paper mailing bags complete the eco-friendly portfolio. “Protecting our planet is important to us as a company, because we firmly believe that we have an important contribution to make, on a personal and corporate level,” explains DEBATIN’s CEO Thomas Rose.
The product development process focused on three themes:
- • Sustainable use of resources
- Minimising energy consumption during production
- Maximising the recycling/reuse potential when the product reaches the end of its life
A close partnership with two other members of the DERIBA Group – riba in Hamm and BeRec in Werneuchen – has borne fruit and the DEBAPOST® plastic wallets can now be supplied with more than 80 % recycled material and the Blue Angel eco-label.
We are equally proud to announce a new paper product, thanks to an exclusive partnership and collaboration with start-up Apomore GmbH. Based in Dettenhausen, Apomore specialises in sustainable paper packaging solutions and has made a name for itself as inventor of the “Tütle”, an environmentally friendly paper bag.
The result of the partnership is the DEBAPOST® Second life paper mailing bag, made of 100 % recycled paper and produced fully carbon neutrally in Germany. These bags are an eco-friendly alternative to courier deliveries and mail order clothing (e.g., online shopping). The post-consumer recycled material is climate-friendly and saves on resources.
A few other great features of these mailing bags – our entry to the German Packaging Award:
- They can be used a second time (for returns or a different delivery). At the end of their serviceable life, they can be given a new lease of life as biodegradable bags for organic waste.
- The paper was developed specially to protect content against moisture – without any plastic!
- Unlike conventional silicone tapes, the innovative tape on the adhesive strip can be recycled normally with other waste paper.
- The plastic tear strip has been replaced by a special perforated strip.
DEBATIN takes responsibility
“We want to demonstrate that it is up to us as a company, and up to each and every one of us as individuals, to take responsibility for how we use raw materials and how we care for our environment,” says Thomas Rose. “That’s why we’re continuing to expand our portfolio with new sustainable products, and that’s why we’re so proud of the film recycling system that we’ve developed within our group, the DERIBA CYCLE”.
The new products will be premièred from 30 June 2019 to 3 July 2019 at the popular trade show for sports & outdoor activities, OutDoor by ISPO, in Munich. And, of course, DEBATIN will be displaying its new products at the DERIBA Group booth at FachPack 2019 in Nuremberg – find us in Hall 7, booth 7-618 from 24 to 26 September 2019.
