DEBATIN’s debut at MedLab in Dubai solicits high level of interest from international visitors
Regarded as the most important trade fair in the Middle East for laboratories, the magnetic appeal of MedLab, held in Dubai, appears to extend far beyond the borders of the region, attracting visitors and exhibitors from all across Europe. In 2024, DEBATIN attended the trade fair as an exhibitor for the first time. Our exhibition stand proved a constant hive of activity as the team busily introduced professionals from health care sector, companies and organisations to our safe, compliant and sustainable packaging for transporting medical samples. Summing up, the entire trade fair team was in agreement – “Let’s repeat this in 2025!”
MedLab: Large-scale, specialised and ideal for networking
More than 830 exhibitors from more than 200 countries attended MedLab, showcasing their products to nearly 30,000 professionals. “Naturally, you can’t compare these figures to leading global trade fairs like Medica in Dusseldorf. However, this trade fair was the perfect place for us to meet our target group – the companies that operate laboratories and the businesses and wholesalers that supply products to them. Even though it’s a large-scale event, the Dubai trade fair is still a manageable size, providing excellent opportunities for networking,” summarises DEBATIN’s CEO Thomas Rose.
The irresistible appeal of leaky samples
Two colleagues who attended the trade fair – Christophe Jansem (Head of Sales and Marketing for DEBATIN’s French subsidiary L.E.S.S. France) and Robin Fabry (DEBATIN Sales Manager) – were almost swamped at the exhibition stand. “We did live demonstrations at MedLab to show what secondary packaging has to withstand in transit in a worst-case scenario – namely, when a lab sample leaks out of its primary packaging,” explains Christophe Jansem. Visitors were irresistibly drawn to the fake blood – for purely professional reasons, of course! And when they discovered that the secondary packaging (“Made in Germany”) is not only safe, but also sustainable, many lingered at the stand for longer than anticipated in order to find out more.
Great interest shown in replacing grip bags with DEBAMED® Speci-Sorb
“Naturally, a trade fair that brings together so many professionals from so many corners of the world doesn’t make for a homogenous audience. However, this meant we registered a high level of interest not only from laboratories that still use grip bags as secondary packaging for transporting samples, but also from professionals with great expertise in fields such as pre-analytics, transport temperatures and using packaging to protect against infection,” reports Christophe Jansem.
As such, MedLab was the best possible international stage for DEBATIN to promote its latest innovation for the healthcare industry. With so little competition and so many innovative advantages, it was small wonder that DEBAMED® Speci-Sorb stole the limelight so successfully:
- The absorbent layer prescribed by Packaging Instruction P650 is integrated into our packaging solution during production via an innovative, patented coating process
- Makes life easier for lab staff, who no longer have to add an absorbent liner by hand
- DEBAMED® Speci-Sorb is 100 % recyclable: certified by the recycling alliance, Interzero, as “Made for Recycling”
- Ideal for transporting samples via drone
DEBATIN’s bottom line after exhibiting at the trade fair? “We definitely plan to be back in Dubai in 2025, and look forward to offering new solutions to lots of potential new customers!” summarises DEBATIN’s CEO Thomas Rose.
